Wavenumber-frequency diagram

A wavenumber-frequency diagram is a plot of a field that has been subjected to a Fourier transform both in space and time.

In the atmospheric sciences, these plots are a common way to visualize atmospheric waves. Usually, positive and negative frequencies are indicated on the y-axis (the vertical axis), while wavenumbers are indicated on the x-axis (the horizontal axis).
