Actis is a private equity fund-managing company which was formed in 2004 by the CDC (formerly the Commonwealth Development Corporation) [] .

According to its website, Actis is:

"...a leading private equity investor in emerging markets and has been investing exclusively in these markets for nearly 60 years. We have raised US$6.8 billion of funds and have over 120 investment professionals in 13 offices throughout Africa, China, Latin America, South and South East Asia.
