Comunidad Odinista de España-Asatru

The Comunidad Odinista de España-Asatru is a Germanic neopagan organization in Spain, practicing a form of Germanic neopaganism termed Odinism after the chief god of Norse mythology, Odin. Its members are also called heathen which means: "haithno" (Gothic), "hæthen" Anglo-Saxon, "heide" (German), mistranslation by the Gothic Bishop Wulfila (4th century c.e.) of "hethanos" (Armoric).

Odinism

The term Odinism was coined by Orestes Brownson in his 1848 "Letter to Protestants". [The Works of Orestes A. Brownson: Containing the Second Part of the Political Writings, ed. Henry Francis Brownson, T. Nourse (1884), p. 257] The term was re-introduced in the late 1930s by Alexander Rud Mills in Australia with his "First Anglecyn Church of Odin" and his book "The Call of Our Ancient Nordic Religion". [ [http://www.odinic-rite.org/ruddmills.html Odinic Rite] ] In the 1960s and early 1970s, Else Christensen's "Odinist Study Group" and later the Odinist Fellowship brought the term into usage in North America. Odinists do not necessarily focus on the worship of Odin and most honour the full pantheon

History

Under the influence of Christensen's group, Ernesto (or "Ernust") García and Isabel Rubio founded the Circulo Odinista Español in Spain in 1981. Else Christensen gave his blessing to this organization and recognized as such in 1981. [ [http://www.odinismo.es/origenes/else.htm Else Christensen] .] In 2007 the organization changed its name to "Cículo Odinista Europeo" (COE) after years of intense struggle for the restoration of Odinism.

In 2006 the COE began a fight against the pillaging in the ancient capital of the Goths, Toledo, Spain. Efforts were made to the Spanish president Jose Maria Barreda and stopped the destruction of the remains found. Those remains were in the entire Goth city with all its houses, streets, etc... and have been declared a national monument. [ [http://www.futuropasado.com/?p=469 Goth city] ]

In 2007 the COE was recognized by the Spanish government as a official religion, allowing them to perform "legally binding civil ceremonies", such as marriages. COE is the fourth Odinist/Asatru religious organization in the world to be recognized with official status, after those in Iceland, Norway and Denmark.

tructure

The structure consists of the "Reiki" or president, who is at the executive level where more power is legal effect. The "Reiki" is the chief social and religious figure in the COE.

The priestly class is composed of the "Gotha" and the "Seider". The "Seider" is divided into the "Spaekona", who perform "Spae" magic and the "Seidkona" who perform "Seidr" magic, which relates and unites the functions of Völva, clairvoyance and high magic. Any person, male or female, may belong to these two organizations. Member of the Seider must also possess other types of power such as clairvoyance, telepathy, etc.

Since 2007 the Gothar have been governed by Angel Arroyo and since 2008 the order of Seider by Seidkona Maria Angeles Lozano

Beliefs

After a long migration integrated into the process of the Germanic invasions and the collapse of the Western Roman Empire, the Visigoths established their kingdom in the Iberian Peninsula during the sixth century, placing its capital in Toledo for its strategic location central.

COE is studying closely the studies conducted by Rupert Sheldrake's morphic fields and Carl Jung's collective unconscious as "very close to the Germanic ideas surrounding the Well of Urth", and presented a definition of "metagenetics" as:

"The hypothesis that there are spiritual or metaphysical implications to physical relatedness among humans which correlate with, but go beyond, the known limits of genetics.

The code of values of the confession Odinist is to live their lives according to the "Nine Noble Virtues" and the "Nine points programmatic of COE."

First pagan wedding in Spain

On December 23 the first legal pagan wedding in Spain in 1,500 years took place on the beach of Vilanova, Barcelona. [http://www.laverdad.es/albacete/20080420/provincia/otras-religiones-discipulos-odin-20080420.html "La verdad" daily] Jordi and Francesca , members of Confession Odin-Asatru, united their lives under the Rite Odinist Continental led by Ernust, Godi of the COE. The ceremony was attended by pagans of all faiths in Spain, as well as members of Confession Odinist-Asatru, leaders of the Kelt Confession Society, members of the Coven Sauce Silver and the Pagan Federation.

Temple

One of the pillars of the new project Odin is the temple. This is an old building located in a town of Albacete, with centuries-old belongs to our ancestors, legally acquired the property from relatively recently and which is being rebuilt since mid-2005.
