Democratic Alliance Against Dictatorship

The Democratic Alliance Against Dictatorship (DAAD) is the anti-People's Alliance for Democracy alliance in Thailand. They wear red shirts during protests.

This alliance is organized to support the former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra. Thaksin deposed by the military coup on September 19, 2006. During the military regime in 2006-2007, the DAAD actively organized rallies. The DAAD stopped the rallies when the Thaksin-affiliated parties, led by Samak Sundaravej, won in Dec 26, 2007 general election, and resumed their rallies against the PAD rallies in May 2008.

Some leaders of the DAAD are now in the government. DAAD leaders are now also the TV-NBT daily program critics.

DAAD is financially supported by the Thaksin-affiliated parties. In the clash between the PAD and the DAAD on Sep 2, 2008 some parliamentary members of the Thaksin-affiliated parties were active in the DAAD group.

On Sep 2, 2008 the PAD arrested two DAAD supporters and found that they were drunk and admitted that they were paid to the join the rally in the DAAD.
