"Popeye and Son" is an animated television series produced by Hanna-Barbera and King Features Syndicate, and aired for one season (1987-1988) on CBS.

ynopsis

It is the third television series to feature characters from the Elzie Crisler Segar comic strip "Popeye". It is also the final Popeye series from Hanna-Barbera. In this show, Popeye and his long-time girlfriend Olive Oyl are married and have a son named Popeye Junior. "Junior" has inherited Popeye's ability to gain superhuman strength from eating spinach; however, Junior hates the taste of spinach, much to his father's disappointment. Popeye's rival Bluto has a wife of his own and they also have a son named Tank.

Maurice LaMarche supplied the voice of Popeye in this series, succeeding Jack Mercer in that role. It is also the first set of Popeye cartoons that were produced since Mercer's death in 1984.
