Plains Farm

Plains Farm (known locally as Plainsy) is a suburb of Sunderland, Tyne and Wear and it is a council-built housing estate, erected in the 1940s. Neighbouring areas include Silksworth, The Barnes, Thorney Close, Springwell and Farringdon. It is an area run predominantly by the Home Group and Gentoo. Many houses are rented via the two companies, others are purchased by home owners. The majority of housing is either Terraced or Semi Detached. Plains Farm's graphology is most notable throughout the city for its community workFact|date=August 2008 and crime levelsFact|date=August 2008.

Community Charter

The Plains Farm area was also selected with 12 other areas in the UK, by the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Hazel Blears to pilot a Community Charter [http://www.homegroup.org.uk/housing/regeneration/Pages/PlainsFarmCharter.aspx] Scheme. Whereby the views and concerns of the community in general are taken aboard to influence any decision making process.

Schools/Facilities

Plains Farm has two schools within its area, Plains Farm Primary School and the Tudor Grove Centre, the Primary School, also plays host to a local Community Centre. These lands are also home to the Russel Foster League squad, Plains Farm FC. [http://www.plainsfarmyfc.org.uk/Infox.html] ]
