Roger DeCourcey

Roger De Courcey (born 1944 in London) is a British ventriloquist known for operating 'Nookie Bear'. He was the winner of the 1976 "New Faces" televised talent competition.

Biography

De Courcey was educated at the Henry Thornton Grammar School, Clapham and worked at the Stock Exchange upon leaving school. He also studied and sang opera and organised sports at a holiday camp, before his big break on New Faces. He now runs a successful talent agency.

Nookie Bear

Nookie Bear's main feature is crossing his eyes when De Courcey pulls a string inside. Another feature is that he has a Crystal Palace Football Club rosette on his chest. When De Courcey was doing the pub circuits long before TV, Nookie Bear was originally named 'Bollocks the Bear'. On stage and TV Nookie was well known for his catchphrases such as "Clock her Bristols, Rog" and " Just look at her knockers, you don't get many of those to the pound!".
