Gary LeDrew

Gary LeDrew (born July 4, 1942) is a Canadian blogger. He was a Toronto nightclub owner in the 1960s and 1970s.He created the famous Grossman's peace sign T-shirt.

Biography

Early life

Gary Winston LeDrew was born July 4, 1942 in Montreal, Quebec. As a child, he lived on the Louisbourg lighthouse and with an aunt in Montreal before his family settled in Uxbridge, Ontario in 1948. He attended Uxbridge Secondary School.

Career

Richard Flohill wrote one of his first articles for the Toronto Star about him.He was married and moved to back to Uxbridge for a few years where he was chairman of the Uxbridge Centennial Committee in 1972.he also managed Kid Bastiens Camelia Band for a while.

He ran away to sea for the second time at 33 after his marriage broke up.

During the 1970s, LeDrew operated two after hours clubs. Gary's Bar was visited by the likes of The Rolling Stones, Richard Hatfield, Burton Cummings, Ian Tyson and MacLean & MacLean. Murray McLauchlan wrote a song about the bar titled "Lady Luck".

He worked in the movie industry in the early eighties as an assistant producer, producer and writer.He also spent 3 months drinking with [Richard Burton] . [ [http://lunchwithrichard.blogspot.com/ ] ] He worked as a highly paid professional Santa Claus starting at Simpsons.Joined WiseGuy computers as an executive buying software.Had a computer business selling computers designing web pages etc.Moved back to Louisbourg in 2004.
