Jacob J. Arrieta (March 6, by|1986, city-state|Farmington|Missouri) is a right handed starting pitcher in the Baltimore Orioles organization currently assigned to their Carolina League affiliate, the Frederick Keys. He is 6' 4" tall and weighs 225 lbs. and was originally drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 26th round of the 2005 draft, but opted, instead, to attend Texas Christian. He was then selected by the Orioles in the fifth round of the June by|2007 draft. Arrieta was 6-5 with a 2.87 earned run average and 120 strikeouts over twenty starts for the Keys when his season ended in order to allow him to play for the USA Baseball team at the summer Olympics in Beijing. In his first start at the Olympics, Arrieta pitched six innings and struck out seven in Team USA's 9-1 victory over the China national baseball team. Arrieta first joined Team USA in 2006, and was 4-0 with 34 strikeouts and a 0.27 ERA-- allowing just one earned run in 35 innings pitched over six starts for the gold medal winning team.
