- Payson National Forest
Payson National Forest was established as the Payson Forest Reserve by the
General Land Office inUtah on August 3, 1901 with 86,400 acres, located near Nephi. After the transfer of federal forests to theU.S. Forest Service in 1905, it became aNational Forest on March 4, 1907. On July 1, 1908 Payson andVernon National Forest s and part of Fillmore were combined to createNebo National Forest . The lands presently exist inUinta National Forest and contain theMt. Nebo Wilderness .
