The 43rd Military Police Brigade is a military police brigade of the United States Army.

Organization

Within the Rhode Island Army National Guard, the 43D Military Police Brigade exercises command and control over the 118th Military Police Battalion, and its three (3) separate Military Police companies. In addition, the Brigade has a Medium Truck Company attached.

The 1207th Transportation Company, Rhode Island Army National Guard, is located at the Fogarty Armory, Camp Fogarty, 2841 South County Trail, East Greenwich, Rhode Island 02818. The 1207th is also the parent organization of Organizational Maintenance Shop #3, located in Warwick, RI. Soldiers in this unit are trained as truck drivers and mechanics. The Company's mission is to provide for the movement of both dry and refrigerated containerized cargo, bulk water and bulk petroleum products by motor transport.

History

The Headquarters of the 43rd Military Police Brigade is located in the Warwick Armory, Airport Road, Warwick, Rhode Island.

Constituted on March 4, 1959 in the Rhode Island Army National Guard as Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 103d Replacement Battalion. It was again organized and Federally recognized April 1, 1959 at Providence. Converted and redesignated March 18, 1963 as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 43d Engineer Group. Converted and redesignated May 1, 1968 as Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 43d Military Police Brigade. Reorganized and redesignated 1 May 1976 as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 43d Military Police Brigade.

Soldiers from the 43rd MP Brigade deployed in early May 2002 to Guantanamo Bay to replace the outgoing 89th Military Police Brigade from Fort Hood, Texas, as the new headquarters element for Joint Task Force 160. They arrived at Guantamo Bay on May 13, 2002.
