Bretea Română (German: Brettendorf; Hungarian: Oláhbrettye) is a commune in Hunedoara County, Romania. It is composed of thirteen villages: Băţălar, Bercu, Bretea Română, Bretea Streiului, Covragiu, Gânţaga, Măceu, Ocolişu Mare, Plopi, Ruşi, Vâlcele, Vâlcelele Bune and Vâlceluţa.
