Antithrombotic

Antithrombotic

A antithrombotic is a drug which reduces thrombus formation. [DorlandsDict|one/000006359|antithrombotic] [http://cancerweb.ncl.ac.uk/cgi-bin/omd?antithrombotic]

Different antithrombotics affect different processes:
* Antiplatelet drugs limit the migration or aggregation of platelets.
* Anticoagulants limit the ability of the platelets to clot.
* Thrombolytic drugs act to dissolve clots after they have formed.
