Charlie Parker (born 1 September 1891 in Seaham, County Durham, England) was an English footballer who played in the Football League for Carlisle United, Stoke, Sunderland and on one occasion, for England, as a central defender.

Club career

He signed for Sunderland from Stoke City for £3,300 in 1920,^[1] and made his debut for Sunderland against Bradford City on 23 October 1920 in a 2–2 draw at Valley Parade.^[2] He was appointed as club captain in 1924 as Charlie Buchan left for Arsenal.^[1] In total, he made 245 league appearances and scored 12 goals in his time at Sunderland from 1920 to 1929,^[3] where he left for Carlisle United to become player-coach.^[1] One of his career highlights was to play for England against Wales, at the Victory International on 8th October 1919 at the Victoria Ground, Stoke (England 2-0 Wales)
