Born in
Cardiganshire , he was educated atLampeter College School andJesus College, Oxford . He was, successively, the Headmaster atDolgelley Grammar School (1867-1872),Friars School, Bangor (1872-1878) andChrist College, Brecon (1878-1890). He was then appointedBishop of Bangor , the first Welsh-speaking bishop there for over two hundred years.References
