The Gear Junkie

The Gear Junkie

"The Gear Junkie" is a nationally-syndicated newspaper column in the United States. It covers outdoors gear and apparel and is written by Stephen Regenold, a journalist and freelance writer from Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The column debuted in 2002 in the "Minneapolis Star Tribune". It now appears weekly in newspapers including "Seattle Post-Intelligencer", "Albuquerque Journal", "Redding Record Searchlight", "Billings Gazette", "Casper Star-Tribune", among others.

Subjects range from backpacking to marathon running. Regenold distinguishes his column by testing all gear himself — be it on a mountain climb in Norway or a 20-mile training run in his home town.
