Andrzej Towiański

Andrzej Tomasz Towiański (Antoszwińce, a village near Vilnius, Lithuania, January 1, 1799May 13, 1878, Belgium) was a Polish philosopher and Messianist religious leader.

Life

He was the charismatic leader of the Towiańskiite sect, known also as "Koło Sprawy Bożej" (Circle of God's Cause). Among those influenced by his thinking was the Polish Romantic poet Adam Mickiewicz.
