Jaula de Lobos

"Jaula de Lobos" is an Italian soap opera remake of Mexico's 1986 "Cuna de lobos". During the process into making this soap opera, the director wanted actors and actresses that were fully well known throughout Italy for their great acting career. Because of this he hired many people for roles on this soap opera that at the end, it ended up being the biggest breakthrough in Italian soap opera's more than "Tierra de Villanos" that was released in 2002. "Jaula de Lobos" was well known "worldwide" for its great storyline, theme song, and its great actors/actresses that were in it. Now countries around the globe are making their own remakes as well, Argentina, France, Japan, Portugal, Switzerland, United States, and Russia. But yet nobody forgets where this soap opera began, in Mexico. Apparently Mexico had an amazing breakthrough with their soap opera as Italy did. Now Mexico is working on a remake to bring back that soap opera back into television, news reports that it will be released in 2006 and will be called "Mundo de Fieras".

Plot details

"Jaula de Lobos" is a story full of humanity, true love, and sacrifice. it is the story of the consequences of the irresponsible parenthood of Peter Mezoggiorno. Angela Cucinnota is a country girl, poor, innocent and sensitive, who has grown up to become painfully aware of her low social position. As time goes by, Angela develops into a young beauty obliged to live in an unhospitable world, which molds her into a charming and aggressive survivor. Angela, with her violent tenderness, is an authentic savage being. Michael Alfieri, with his strong honest character, is Angela's guardian angel, awakening in her, her deepest feelings. Isabel Cucinnota becomes Angela's most devout enemy, succeeding with her intense hatred, and her brutal treatment, to make a deep impression on the fragile and humble life of the young woman. Jocelyne Mastroianni, a hysterical woman on the brink of madness, completes this explosive triangle which surrounds Angela in a whirlwind of romance, passion and violence. The son of Jocelyne, Frank Mastroianni helps his mother into destroying every person that comes between his family, full of hatred himself and being a savage, he helps his mother into staying in society and to get what belongs to them, an inheritance which drives this family into a battle. Whatever Frank sees, he gets, and if there is something blocking that path, he will kill or destroy it no matter what. The sacrificial love of Ivan Soriano, the birth of a son, the loyalty of friends and the intense hatred of enemies are the factors which complete the plot of this electrifying drama.

Apparently "Jaula de Lobos" made an outstanding entrance and exit when it was released. Nobody knew that a simple soap opera was going to end up being such a huge hit "worldwide". It was such a huge hit that when the soap opera was at the finale, the streets of Rome were mostly empty, people stayed at home and did not want to miss the ending of this soap opera that lasted 2 years in the television. The nominees for "Best Theme Song", "Best Acting", "Best Storyline", and "Best Antagonist" were all awarded to this soap opera. Reports show that each actor and actress who paricipated in this soap opera were paid "$540,000" for their great participation and Grand Returns as well. The one young actor who won "Best Antagonist of 2003" was young Italian actor Danny Morales who made a Grand Return and participation into this soap opera. When he won his award he said to a reporter "I didn't know I was really going to win, there were others that I was up against and I said to myself that it would be a miracle to win but still would be an honor to be known as that. But when they said that I was the one who won, I just sat there, and you saw when the camera zoomed on me (laughs) that I was just shocked to have won. But the question that everyone keeps asking me is, are you seriously going to leave the soap operas? Well truth be told, I never said that I was leaving permanently, I just said that I wanted to take a break and to concentrate more on school because my career has taken most of my time away from school and my friends. So for right now, "Jaula de Lobos" will be my last, for now. I just want to have time for myself and my family because I'm still a kid and even though I have a great reputation here with directors of movies and soap operas, they still understand that I wanna take time for myself. But like I said, for now "Jaula de Lobos" will be my last one, in time I will return for more."
