Jarell Damonte Houston (born August 11, 1985),^[1] better known as J-Boog, is an American R&B singer, rapper, and actor. His stage name came from his grandmother calling him "Boogie" because of his love of dancing,^{[citation needed]} and the J is simply the initial of his first name. He is a former member of R&B group B2K. He is also the cousin of Marques Houston.

Early Life

J-Boog was born in Inglewood, California, raised in Compton, California, and has been rapping, singing, dancing since the age of eight.^{[citation needed]}

B2K

J-Boog was a member of the boy group B2K, along with Lil' Fizz, Raz-B, and Omarion.

He starred in You Got Served, the hit dance movie, with his B2K band mates, along with Marques Houston and Young Rome. He played the character Rico, the peacemaker of the group. His performance in the movie was praised by many critics alike.

Solo/Duo Career

In 2004, J-Boog and Lil' Fizz started their own record label called Fizz & Boog Inc.

Houston, Frederic and Damuer Leffridge launched Popular Entertainment in 2008. Which was scheduled to release his first solo album, My First Words, in the summer of 2008. On September 4, 2009, Boog and Fizz premiered a new video titled Bounce on 106 & Park.

Night Life - EP (a preview of the album) was released on iTunes on September 29, 2009 Bounce is the first hit single from the album.

Personal Life

J-boog is the father of three children, one daughter and two sons, Anaia Jolie Houston (b. October 3, 2005), Jarell Damonte Houston (b. December 14, 2006) and Tru Carter Houston (b. November 12, 2009) with girlfriend Jondelle Michelle Lee.
