Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani - Dubai (BPD) was established in Dubai in September 2000 in response to the growing needs for Quality Engineering Education among the residents of Middle East. It is the only international branch campus of BITS, Pilani and was set-up in association with ETA Net, a member of the Ascon Group. Over a period of 7 years, BPD's student strength has grown to about 1500 with students seeking admission from not only UAE and other Middle East Countries but also from India and other parts of the world.

Programmes Offered

BPD offers Engineering Programmes at the undergraduate level in 8 different specializations. All the programmes are of 4 years duration and an Internship of 7½ months in reputed industries is included within these 4 years. There are nearly 204 companies offering Internship to the students currently with many more companies coming forward each day. Students are also paid stipend during this internship.

Practice school

All the Integrated First Degree programs described above have a Practice School option which consists of two courses, Practice School I and Practice School II. A student goes to Practice School I of two months duration during the summer following second year and to Practice School II of five and a half months' duration during the final year. The curriculum, through Practice School, finds a formal method of bringing the reality of professional environment into the educational process.

BPD has established Academic Collaborations with reputed American Universities for the benefit of its students. The scope of collaboration includes preferential admission into graduate programmes for BITS students, joint research activities, credits transfer etc.

Annual Festivals

TECHNOFESTTechnofest is the annual intra-college technology show, where students from all branches make working and models to showcase their talent in front of the judges and their peers.

BITS SPORTS FESTIVALBITS,Pilani - Dubai organizes the BITS SPORTS FESTIVAL every year, where fifteen colleges / universities from across the UAE participate in the tournament. The tournament includes throw ball, football, cricket, table tennis, chess and badminton. BPD has been the first institution to introduce Badminton as an inter-university sport event in UAE for both boys and girls. Since BPD won 10 out of the 11 events conducted, the overall championship of BSF 2007 was bagged by BPD. With this victory, BPD has won the championship for 4 consecutive years. Besides this, BPD has won several laurels in various other inter university events organized by other colleges.

Student Bodies

IEEEBPD is also the largest student branch of the IEEE, the prestigious Association of distinguished Engineers from around the world. Currently it has 200 student members who actively participate in several international conferences and events.

SAEBPD is also the largest student branch of Society of Automotive Engineers

Alumni

Four batches comprising of 400 students have graduated from BITS, Pilani - Dubai till date. BPD Graduates have been admitted by some of the best US universities for pursuing Masters and PhD programmes such as Stanford University, University of Texas , Dallas & Austin , Cornell University, Illinois Institute of Technology, University of Southern California etc and best of Universities in other countries like University of Toronto, Canada, University of Manchester, UK, Nanyang Technological University , Singapore, IIM, Calcutta-India etc. Several Graduates have been recruited by nearly 128 globally reputed companies based in various countries such as Siemens LLC, Mott McDonald, Maersk, Standard Chartered Bank, Emirates Airlines etc., in U.A.E, Infosys, DELL, Wipro, Tata Consultancy etc., in India and Microsoft, Sony Ericsson, Sungard etc. in US to mention a few.

Relocation

BITS, Pilani - Dubai moved to its permanent campus in Dubai International Academic City and commenced its operation from September-2007.
