Safe In Sound Award

The Safe-In-Sound Award^TM for Excellence and Innovation in Hearing Loss Prevention was created by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and the National Hearing Conservation Association ( [http://www.hearingconservation.org/ NHCA] ). This award is geared towards companies or organizations that strive for Excellence in Hearing Loss Prevention. Starting in 2009, the NHCA and NIOSH will present the first Safe-In-Sound Award at the NHCA annual conference in Atlanta, Georgia. A fourth award is also given for Innovation in Hearing Loss Prevention, which is available for any economic sector. This award is unique because it is awarded specifically to programs that have created new products, training programs, software programs, or other new and effective ideas that aid in the prevention of hearing loss. In addition, this award will recognize an individual and/or business entity, regardless of sector/NAICS code affiliation. The various companies and organizations can then use the award criteria to improve their programs.

Objectives

The award process has four separate objectives.
#Establish a validated process by which industries can measure the performance of their health practices against accepted key performance indicators.
#Use a rigorous systematic review process to capture and evaluate the successes and lessons learned.
#Recognize businesses that uphold effective hearing loss prevention as a business value and document measurable achievement.
#Share leading edge and best practices information for educational purposes worldwide.
