Richard Ashrowan

Richard Ashrowan, (English, b. 1966) is an internationally exhibited video artist working in Scotland.

Biography

Richard Ashrowan was brought up on a farm in Essex, England. He originally trained and practiced in Chinese medicine and was a founder member of the charity Open Road. He played with experimental ambient/techno pioneers Shen in the early nineties, before becoming an artist. From 2002 to 2007 he worked in partnership with Scottish artist Alexander Hamilton under the name 'Hamilton & Ashrowan'. He now lives and works in the Scottish Borders. The Threshold Artspace, a large and fully networked mutli-media digital canvas installation in Perth Concert Hall, was conceived by Hamilton & Ashrowan. Work

His work is mainly in video installation, based upon close observation of natural landscapes and strongly influenced by John Ruskin.
