Glen Roven

Glen Roven is a composer/lyricist and conductor. He has won Four Emmy Awards. His most important composition is THE RUNAWAY BUNNY, a Violin Concerto for Violin, Reader and Orchesta. It was premiered at Carnegie Hall with Roven conducting the American Symphony Orchestra and Glenn Close narrating.

Roven was the original musical director of Sugar Babies on Broadway starring Ann Miller and Mickey Rooney, when he was 19. He conducted Clinton's two inaugural concerts as well as Bush's two inaugural concerts. He conducted and arranged Frank Sinatra's last TV appearance and Sammy Davis's last TV appearance. He also conducted the TV Specials, Night of 100 Stars I, II and III.

He made his Israeli conducting debut in 2001 conducting the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. He has conducted the National Symphony, the Seattle Symphony, the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, The IKO, The Munich Philharmonic, The Radio Luxembourg Orchestra.

He worked as a rehearsal pianist for PIPPIN when he was in High School. He attended Columbia University and worked son the New York productions of VERY GOOD EDDIE, THE MADWOMAN OF CPW, JOSEPH AND THE..., REALLY ROSIE, A PARTY WITH COMDEN AND GREEN, SHE LOVES ME (TOWN HALL), WOMAN OF THE YEAR (NATIONAL TOUR). He arranged Patti LuPone’s one woman Broadway show and was the co-Musical Supervisor for Liza Minnelli's , STEPPIN' OUT, at Radio City. He was a contributing composer for the Off-Broadway hit, A...MY NAME IS ALICE, and wrote the scores for John Guare's LYDIE BREEZE, directed by Louis Malle, and GARDENIA, directed by Karel Reisz. He also composed the scores for Larry Gelbart's MASTERGATE and Christopher Isherwood's A �MEETING BY THE RIVER, on Broadway, and Radio City's GOT TO GET AWAY.

Other TV appearances inclued:4 Tony Shows, 2 Emmy's, Happy Birthday, Hollywood (co-produced with Jack Haley, Jr.), The Plácido Domingo Special, NBC's 60th Anniversary Special, all three Night of 100 Stars to name a few. For George Schlatter, he won his forth Emmy for SINATRA; 80 Years, His Way; also for Schlatter, he has written and conducted The Sammy Davis 60th Anniversary Tribute, The Richard Pryor Tribute, The Muhammad Ali Tribute, Welcome Home America, The Meaning of Life, The American Television Awards, The Comedy Hall of Fame, SHE-TV (with Carsey-Werner) and the annual American Comedy Awards, The AFI Tribute to Harrison Ford, among others. For Don Mischer, he has conducted the Kennedy Center Honors,the Prime Time Emmys, Bravo’s Tribute to John Travolta and Bravo’s Tribute to Ron Howard. For Disney Television, he wrote and conceived the musical numbers for the ANIMAL KINGDOM THEME PARK OPENING SPECIAL, MGM/DISNEY Studio Grand Opening, The Grand Opening of Euro/Disney, The Best of Disney’s Music, Disney’s Greatest Hits on Ice (produced by Steve Binder), The Nancy Kerrigan Special, Disney’s Champions on Ice, Melinda, The First Lady of Magic (produced by Steve Binder), Incredible Animal Tales, plus Michelle Kwan’s Ice Special (Steve Binder). Other credits include: NBC’s CLAY AIKEN CHRISTMAS SPECIAL, with Aiken, Barry Manilow, Megan Mullaley & Yolanda Adams; AFI Tribute to George Lucas; The Presidential Gala at Ford’s Theatre, Leonard Bernstein's 60th Birthday Tribute, We Interrupt This Week, The Ed Sullivan Christmas Special, Elizabeth Taylor’s 60th Birthday Celebration plus many others. He composed all the songs for the Comedy Central Series/RikMil Production, VIVA VARIETY (Emmy Nomination Best Theme).

He has arranged and conducted for Julie Andrews, Jason Alexander, Anita Baker, Kathleen Battle, Michael Bolton, Bono, Brooks and Dunn, Tevin Campbell, Ray Charles, Charlotte Church, Natalie Cole, Plácido Domingo, Ella Fitzgerald, Renee Flemming, Aretha Franklin, Kenny G., Denyce Graves, Goldie Hawn, Scott Hamilton, Florence Henderson, Gregory Hines, Bob Hope, Hootie and the Blowfish, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Jane Krakowski, Rene Kollo, Kermit the Frog, Patti LaBelle, Brian McKnight, Sherill Milnes, Liza Minnelli, Patti LuPone, Bernadette Peters, Chita Rivera, Diana Ross, Lily Tomlin, Shirley MacLaine, Luther Vandross, Nancy Wilson, Stevie Wonder and Trisha Yearwood.

For children, he produced the CD Sharon Lois and Bram's Candles, Snow and Mistletoe which was also at the Palace Theater in NYC. He wrote the score and produced the CD for Santa, Baby and the theme from THE BABY-SITTERS" CLUB.

As a writer, Roven has contributed to GAMES WE PLAYED, published by Simon and Schuster, and CITY SECRETS: London and New York.

His musical, HEART'S DESIRE, premiered at the Cleveland Playhouse. It was performed subsequently for one night at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London directed by Simon Callow.NORMAN'S ARK opened the Los Angeles New Musical Festival, May 28, 2008. It was directed by Peter Schneider and produced by Maria S. Schlatter.He has two musicals scheduled for Broadway: Dr. Seuss's THE 5,000 FINGERS of DR. T and PANDORA'S BOX, both written by Maria S. Schlatter and directed by Gary Halvorson.
