Ionospheric storm

An Ionospheric storm is a turbulence in the ionosphere of the Earth's atmosphere. Such storms are triggered by enhanced flux of energetic electrons that are emitted at a large level by the Sun.

An Ionospheric storm is also known as an Ion storm. It mostly involves lightning and fracturing of electrical appliances, such as shutting down the power, due to the high, very high amounts of electricity that is produced during an Ion storm. Blackouts are to be expected within 1 mile of an Ion storm.

Ion storms lightning consists mostly of blue-ish to red sparks, usually more than 50,000 volts of electricity. The lightning, however, tends to not aim for the ground, but more for anything electric (thus why if your ever in one, turn the lights and everything else off).
