Premise

In 1985, twelve years after "Yogi's Gang", Hanna-Barbera brought Yogi Bear and friends back in a new treasure hunting cartoon. Yogi, along with Boo Boo, Ranger Smith, Augie Doggie and Doggie Daddy, Huckleberry Hound, Quick Draw McGraw, Snagglepuss, and Snooper and Blabber, would go on treasure hunts, as assigned by Top Cat. They traveled aboard a ship called the "SS Jelly Roger", which was like the ark on "Yogi's Gang". Dick Dastardly and Muttley would try to beat them to the treasure by using their usual dirty tricks.

Regular guest stars and cameos on the show included Baba Looey, Cindy Bear, Hokey Wolf, Magilla Gorilla, Peter Potamus, Lippy the Lion & Hardy Har Har, Secret Squirrel, The Hillbilly Bears, Ruff, Mr. Jinks, Yakky Doodle and Chopper, Ricochet Rabbit, Touché Turtle, Undercover Elephant, Wally Gator, Jabberjaw, and Squiddly Diddly.

Dick Dastardly and Muttley's car the Mean Machine was not featured in this cartoon, but they appeared in a submarine called the "SS Dirty Tricks".

eries run

"Yogi's Treasure Hunt" was part of "The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera" lineup in syndication until 1988. It now occasionally airs on the Boomerang digital cable channel.

Aftermath

Tom Ruegger (later a writer and producer for "Tiny Toon Adventures", "Animaniacs", and "Histeria!") worked on this show. Charles Grosvenor, later the producer/director of most of "The Land Before Time" direct-to-video sequels, directed the show.

Two comic stories based on the show appeared in issue #18 of the "Cartoon Network Presents" comic book from DC Comics.
