"You" is the name of a 1991 song recorded by the Dutch band Ten Sharp. It was released in 1992 as their debut single from the album "Under the Water-Line" and became a smash hit in many countries, including France, Norway and Sweden where it reached #1 on the charts.

Background and writing

First single from the band, "You" was a huge success thanks to its tune. According to a specialist of French charts, "the notes from the piano are sharply separated with a beautiful consistency and constitute the backdrop of a melody served by the power of Marcel Kapteijn's [member of the band, vocalist] voice". [Elia Habib, "Muz hit. tubes", p. 234 (ISBN 2-9518832-0-X)] The song begins with a long musical introduction on piano also played in the refrains and at the end.

The song was written by Ton Groen, while the music was composed by Niels Hermes. This pop ballad deals with a love relationship in which the narrator adresses to the woman he loves.
