Brendan Daly is a fictional character in the Irish soap opera Fair City. Brendan is the local doctor.
About Brendan
Brendan arrived in Carrigstown as newly married to Heather Lyons. Soon, Brendan discovered that Heather once had a physical relationship with her half brother, Floyd Phelan. Brendan was completely shocked and had a one night stand with Deirdre Burke. Brendan was devastated when Deirdre told him that she pregnant. Soon after, Heather discovered she was pregnant. The two women gave birth in the space of a few weeks. Heather had a baby girl and named her Eleanor. Deirdre had a boy and named him Benjamin. Deirdre left Ben with Dermot and Jo Fahey. Brendan felt relived when he found out that Dermots name was down as the father on the birth certificate.
Brendan was horrified when he discovered that Heather's new novel, The Good Sister, was based on her incestous relationship with Floyd. It was too much for Brendan and he started taking drugs. He even gave Leo Dowling the wrong medication which nearly killed him. Brendan sped off in his car to avoid the wrath of Leo's wife, Lana, but he crashed and was rushed to hospital. When Heather visited they agreed to start afresh.
Brendan was uncomfortable when Dermot and Jo invited the couple around for Christmas dinner. He, along with Dermot and Jo were horrified when Deidre arrived on their doorstep. She soon left. Brendan was later shocked to see Heather pretend to be a prostitute as a way of getting information for her new novel.
In 2007, the couple temporairily left Carrigstown.
In 2008, Dermot and Jo found out about Brendan being Ben's biological father. They confronted him when he returned to Carrigstown. He begged them not to tell Heather but she found out anyway. Heather was furious with Brendan and kicked him out. She refused to let him see Eleanor. Brendan dived into depression and drank a lot. Leo convinced him to either get Heather to forgive him, or leave Carrigstown for good. Brendan then got a job offer in Washington. He was going to take it but when Heather found out, she asked him to stay.
Soon after, Floyd Phelan returned to Carrigstown. Brendan found out he was dying from cancer. When Heather found out and discovered Brendan knew all along, she was angry but quickly forgave him. Heather then started to spend a lot more time with Floyd which made Brendan uncomfortable but he knew it wouldn't be long until he was gone. Heather's mother Renne told Brendan to be cautious and protect Heather from Floyd. Brendan then saw Heather laughing with Floyd and became furious.
