Big Golden Arena

The Big Golden Arena "(Croatian: Velika zlatna arena" is an award given for best film at the Pula Film Festival, which was until 1992 the Yugoslav equivalent of the Academy Awards. Since 1992 and the breakup of Yugoslavia the competition narrowed to Croatian films only. Although the festival was established in 1954, the award was first given in 1957 - prior to the 1957 edition, the festival had a film critics' and an audience award which were given separately. The award was given "ex aequo" to both the film's director and producer.
