Lionel Lockridge was a fictional character on the American soap opera "Santa Barbara". He was portrayed by actor Nicolas Coster from August 29 1984 to 1988, and then returned from June 6 1990 to the show's end on January 15 1993. Actor Don Stewart filled in for Nicolas for one day on December 18 1985.

Character History

Arriving in town a month after the premiere, Lionel Lockridge brought intrigue already in his first scene. Easily described as a womanizer, Lionel was a person whose affair with C.C. Capwell's presumed-dead wife Sophia Wayne caused a vendetta between the two families, and caused a lot of headache to the younger generations of those families. Lionel was first married to Augusta Wainwright, but their marriage was everything but perfect. Keen on making up for his bad deeds and convincing his wife that he isn't having an affair with Eden Capwell, Lionel promised Augusta that he'll fix their marriage. However, things were just starting to get complicated.

Augusta learned that Lionel's ex-lover Sophia has secretly returned to Santa Barbara disguised as Dominic, [ [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvdj1ze-toU Sophia returns] ] and she wouldn't allow Lionel to get back with her. Lionel's marriage reached a dead end when Augusta lost her sight. Sophia shocked Lionel by revealing that Channing Capwell Jr is actually his son, and not C.C.'s, and Lionel's mother Minx revealed that she switched Channing with Brick Wallace when they were babies, making Brick the son of Sophia and Lionel.

Augusta divorced Lionel and left town, and Lionel found romance in a new love triangle with Jane Wilson and her mother Caroline. After learning that Caroline is dying, Lionel married her, but she soon passed away. Realizing that most of his kids left town, Lionel decided to follow. He returned two years later and was involved in a series of bad deeds, having pretended to be dead for awhile, and then plotting against C.C. in a war where he lost the Lockridge mansion. Lionel's world was rocked when an alcoholic Augusta revealed that Warren isn't actually his son, and Warren unleashed his anger on Lionel, but they made up later when Lionel was accidentally poisoned with soup that Cassandra Benedict, his sister, originally intended for Angela Raymond. Lionel then fell in love with Gina DeMott, and married her to give her comfort. Realizing that they loved each other, Lionel and Gina stayed together until the end of the series.
