The American Inline Hockey League (AIHL) is a amateur inline hockey league composed of 27 teams in the United States. It is considered to be one of the premier professional inline hockey league in the world.

The league was formed in 2008 in Orlando, Florida, United States from a predecessor organization, the Professional Inline Hockey Association (PIHA), founded in 2002. It started with 21 teams, and through a series of expansions, the league is now composed of 27 teams, all of which are based in the United States. History

On June 16, 2008, AAU Hockey announced the creation of the American Inline Hockey League. The AIHL is a league designed for highly developed recreational players age 16 and above as they advance beyond the traditional youth ages to the senior level. The league will supposively debut in the fall of 2008, with teams representing several different regions across the United States. The AIHL is a non-profit organization .

Teams

The American Inline Hockey League will begin play in the fall of 2008 with 28 teams, and two exhibition teams: the Roller Snakes of Columbus, Ohio and Washington Power of Washington, DC.
