September 6 ,1987 byCanwest . CFRE and its sister station in Saskatoon,CFSK , were branded as STV until the Global identity was extended to all of Canwest's stations in1997 .The station has one rebroadcast transmitter, on channel 6 in Fort Qu'Appelle (CFRE-TV-2), operating at 0.01 kW in power.
News operation
The station produces 1.5 hours of news every weekday, and 2 hours on the weekends (two 30-minute newscasts at 6 pm and 11 pm on both Saturday and Sunday).
