Canyon News is a an English-language weekly newspaper published in Beverly Hills, California. It is distributed internationally and is published in conjunction with the San Francisco News. Named the "Canyon News" for location and coverage area, Canyon News serves Bel Air, Benedict Canyon, Beverly Hills,Brentwood, Laurel Canyon, Los Feliz, Malibu, Pacific Palisades, Melrose, Santa Monica, Sherman Oaks, Studio City, Topanga Canyon, Westwood & Hollywood Hills.

Founded in August 2001, Canyon News is published by Glenn Kelly.

History

Canyon News began in August 2001 in Beverly Hills. It was adjudicated by the city of Los Angeles

Canyon News started in what used to be George Orson Welles (May 6, 1915 – October 10, 1985) writing room. He was an Academy Award-winning American director, writer, actor and producer for film, stage, radio and television. The house in which canyon news began its publication belonged to Rita Hayworth and Orson Welles. The House is currently located at 2623 Laurel Canyon Blvd and is own by Ruta Lee, who is a columnist for Canyon News. The office has been relocated to 260 South Beverly Dr, however.

After the Publishers realized to whom the house belonged to, they decided to mold the newspaper based on Orson Welles work. His greatest movie Citizen Kane served as a guide to create the basis of canyon news. Canyon News has been online since July 21, 2001.

Competition

Because of its large coverage area, Canyon News has a large competition, ranging from big newspapers such as the Los Angeles Times to other several smaller city papers. Some of the other newspapers covering the same area as the canyon news are, Bel Air view, Brentwood news, Beverly Hills Courier, Beverly Hills Weekly, Los Feliz ledger, Palisadian Post, Sherman Oaks Sun, Studio City Sun, Westside Chronicle and Westside today. The Most notable newspaper covering the same area is the Los Angeles Times.
