Bill Keller (televangelist)

William Herbert Keller was born in Dayton, Ohio, raised in the United Methodist Church, and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of 12. Keller had to work through high school to save for his post-secondary education because his father — who had owned a Standard Oil gas station — died when he was only 16. Keller went to Ohio State University for three years with the goal of becoming a Christian minister. While at Ohio State however, Keller began a successful computer sales business. After earning millions of dollars, Keller was convicted of insider trading and spent nearly three years in prison. During his stay in prison, Keller decided to rededicate his life to God and attended Jerry Falwell's Liberty University upon his release. At Liberty University, Keller earned a B.S. in General Studies with concentrations in Biblical Studies and Journalism.

In August of 1999 Keller started writing the Live Prayer daily devotional and started the Live Prayer television program in March of 2003. Live Prayer has been growing quickly since and first appeared on national TV in July of 2006. The show was cancelled in August 2007 after the local chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations complained of the anti-Islamic views Keller expressed. Keller described Islam as a “1,400-year-old lie from the pits of hell” and called the Prophet Mohammed a “murdering pedophile.” He also called the Quran a “book of fables and a book of lies.” [ [http://www.religionnewsblog.com/19136/bill-keller-3 Florida televangelist Bill Keller loses show after Muslims complain] ]

Keller is interviewed and featured in the documentary film [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Article_VI_(film) Article VI: Faith.Politics.America] . In the film he is shown saying that he likes Mitt Romney, but that he is a Mormon and "following a false theology straight to hell."
