Isabel Bloom

Isabel Bloom (February 10, 1908 – May 1, 2001) was an artist who was born Isabel Scherer in Galveston, Texas, and raised in Davenport, Iowa. She learned sculpture while studying at the Stone City Art Colony in central Iowa under Florence Sprague. She met fellow artist and future husband John Bloom while studying there.

She began experimenting with concrete cast sculptures. They were very popular in Chicago, and she eventually moved her studio from her home to the Village of East Davenport.

Bloom's longtime protege Donna Young took over the sculpting design for [http://www.ibloom.com/ Isabel Bloom, LLC] .

Isabel Bloom LLC announced on February 9, 2006 that it would move production of its statues to China. On February 21, the company altered its position and announced that it will continue to produce locally for its company-owned stores and web sales, but outsource product from overseas for its new national distribution initiative. As of 2007 Isabel Bloom LLC was continuing its practice of matching the local employment levels with demand in the face of challenging market conditions.

Isabel Bloom LLC is now represented by a network of independent sales agencies across the U.S. to gain recognition and product placement in independent gift, floral and garden retailers nationally.
