Rajeev Khandelwal (born October 16 1975) is an Indian Television and Bollywood Actor from Jaipur, Rajasthan, India who recently stepped on to the big screen through commercially and critically acclaimed film Aamir

Career

After playing some minor roles, Rajeev landed his most famous role to date as Sujal in "Kahin To Hoga" . His charming good looks and great acting skills soon made him a household name across the country. He was also regularly linked with his female lead co-star Aamna Shariff. After a couple of years, afraid of being typecast into one role and due to pointless stretching of the famous soap opera, he quit despite his fans wanting him to continue. His popularity is reflected by the fact that the shows TRPs plummeted after his death on the show. Sick of the state of traditional Indian soaps, he then starred in the Indian version of the immensely successful American show "24" called "Time Bomb". He was casted in the lead role of Varun, a field officer in the fictional organization ATC. The lead role of "Jack Bauer" in "24" is player by "Kiefer Sutherland". The show aired for only one season. He also made a short appearance for the popular Indian crime thriller "CID". His next major role was that of Captain Rajveer Singh Shekhawat in the teen military drama "Left Right Left" where he again garnered rave reviews. But the show also seemed to succumb to the now common overstretching of Indian TV serials which triggered him to leave the show mid season. Since then he has stepped into the Bollywood with his recently released "Aamir" which got him exceptionally great reviews. The movie itself is already said to be one of the best movies of 2008 and has garnered immense critical and commercial acclaim.

Personal life

Khandelwal is an atheist. ["I love to call myself an atheist. By atheist, I don't mean I would stand up and start delivering speeches on the non-existence of God. Before acting he was a documentary filmmaker and he wrote 30 documentary films on the army and women labor, which usually air on Doordarshan channel. He also directed documentary dramas. He made and produced his own drama called Pilot but it was not picked up. Then he came to Mumbai to try his hand in modelling. He modeled in commercials for LML bikes, Crystal combs, Gilbleys green label whisky, Videocon refrigerators, Kodak,etc. Then he decided to enter the field of acting like many other models. He auditioned for the role of 'Sujal' at Balaji Telefilms and was immediately selected. He also did another Balaji serial, Kya Hadsaa Kya Haqeeqat before that.

He has been rumoured to be dating his co-star from "Kahin To Hoga", Aamna Shariff though both have denied it.

Rajeev's favourite actors from Bollywood are Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Shahrukh Khan, and Kajol.
