Personal life

Has a 3 year old daughter Kyla, and a fiance named Jessy.

Career

He was an Division II All-American shortstop at Concordia College, Bronxville, New York. He was named Division II player of the year in 2003, after hitting .500 with 83 runs, 22 homers and 65 RBI in 45 games.

Minor Leagues

He then spent mlby|2006 and mlby|2007 with the Omaha Royals of the Pacific Coast League, becoming the Royals Minor League Player of The Year in 2007. He started mlby|2008 in the minors, batting .338 with 10 home runs and 42 RBI in just 50 games with Omaha.

Kansas City Royals

He was called up from Triple-A on May 29, 2008, to replace designated hitter Billy Butler on the roster. On June 12, 2008, Aviles hit his first Major League home run against the Texas Rangers. On August 3, he went 4 for 4, for the first time in his career.
