Cestius

Cestius is the nomen of the Roman gens Cestia. It may refer to various members of that family, including:

  • Cestius Gallus, Roman legate of Syria at the start of the first Jewish-Roman War, defeated by Eleazar ben Simon at Beth Horon in 66 CE
  • Lucius Cestius Pius, a Latin rhetorician

Cestius may also refer to monuments named after members of the gens:
