It was created in April 2008 when former AWA Superstars of Wrestling member promotion Mountaineer Wrestling Association broke away to form a new AWA. The list does not include titles promoted by the individual sanctioned territories.

Title history

The American Wrestling Affiliates claim the lineage of the AWA World Heavyweight Championship much like the AWA Superstars of Wrestling, however does not recognize the title reigns under the AWA Superstars Banner: Recognizing Larry Zbyszko's final AWA Championship reign until he lost the AWA Superstars World Heavyweight Championship to Brian Logan in Fayetteville, West Virginia as a continuous reign.

Hulk Hogan's two AWA World Heavyweight Championship reigns, which were not recognized by the original AWA, are also recognized by the American Wrestling Affiliates.

The American Wrestling Affiliates World Tag Team Championship was created when the organization was originally formed in April 2008.
