Simon Bird is an English actor and writer.

Bird was educated at the Royal Grammar School, Guildford and Queens’ College, Cambridge. Bird also spent a few years living abroad on the East coast of the United States. He has two brothers - one older, one younger (Tom) - and a younger sister. He was in the Winchester High School orchestra and was strongly influenced by Dr. John McCann.

In 2006, he appeared in the Cambridge Footlights National Tour Show, Niceties, described on their site [ [http://footlights.org/2006/tour/index.html Cambridge Footlights Niceties] ] as 'a fast-paced and hilarious comedy sketch show'. With Footlights he performed in two pantomimes ('Alice in Wonderland' and 'Spartacus'), two Spring Revues and numerous Smokers. He co-wrote the 2005 pantomime, ‘Great Expectations’ and the Harry Porter prize-wining play ‘Daddy’s Dead’. He was also in the 2005 National Tour Show, and was the president of Footlights.

He took part in Chortle's national student comedy awards in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008, coming second in his final attempt.
