Ronald Mackay, Lord Eassie

Ronald David Mackay is a Scottish lawyer. He was appointed a Senator of the College of Justice, sitting in Scotland's highest courts, in 1997; he took the judicial title of "Lord Eassie".

Lord Eassie graduated from the University of St Andrews with an MA and from the University of Edinburgh with an LLB. He became an Advocate in 1972. From 1979 to 1982 he was an official of the Court of Justice of the European Communities. He was appointed Queen's Counsel in 1986 and served as an Advocate Depute from 1986 to 1990. Between 2002 and 2006 he was Chairman of the Scottish Law Commission.
