Biography

Dexter Mills, Jr. soon developed the stage name Consequence at the age of nineteen, he made his first official appearance on A Tribe Called Quest's 1996 album Beats, Rhymes, and Life. Q-Tip, a member of A Tribe Called Quest, is Mills's cousin.[1] After the group disbanded in 1998, Consequence was forced to search for a label on his own. Consequence soon earned a deal at Elektra Records. He recorded an album's worth of material to be released in 2000, but the label cut back that year and by 2004, the label had ceased operations. In 2004, he released the mixtape, Take 'Em To The Cleaners, which would find its way into the hands of Kanye West. After this West offered him a guest spot on his debut album The College Dropout. He went on to appear on West's second album. In 2005, Kanye signed Consequence to his label GOOD Music through a deal with Columbia Records. In 2007, Consequence released his debut album, Don't Quit Your Day Job!. Singles from the album were "Callin' Me" and "Grammy Family". The album sold over 7,000 copies in its first week.

Since the release of his debut album, he has begun working on his second album, which was initially titled You Win Some, You Lose Some, though was recently changed to Cons TV.[2] The first single off the album Cons TV was "Whatever U Want", which featured Kanye West and John Legend.[2] The official remixes to "Whatever U Want" were the Bad Boy Remix featuring Diddy & The LOX and the G.O.O.D. Music Remix featuring Kanye West, Common, John Legend, Kid Cudi & Big Sean.

In May 2011, Consequence confirmed that he had dissolved his partnership with Kanye West and G.O.O.D. Music alleging he was not receiving credit for his work and that his sophomore release had been delayed due to a lack of progress from alleged producers West and his cousin Q-Tip.[3] Consequence confirmed he had started his own label, Band Camp Records.[3]
