Virginia Dighero-Zolezzi

Virginia Dighero-Zolezzi

Virginia Dighero-Zolezzi (December 24, 1891 – December 28, 2005) was an Italian supercentenarian, and is the oldest person in the history of Italy, having lived for 114 years and four days.

Zolezzi was born in Lavagna, Liguria, and surpassed the Italian resident longevity record of Maria Teresa Fumarola Ligorio on June 6, 2005. On September 14, 2005, she became the longest-lived person of Italian descent ever, having surpassed Amalia Ruggieri Barone, who was an emigrant to the United States.

At the time of her death, Dighero was the seventh-oldest living person in the world. She had also been the oldest verified living person in Europe, which then became Camille Loiseau of France.
