The 49th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards were held at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena, California. They were presented in two ceremonies, one untelevised on September 13, 1997 and other televised on September 14, 1997. Both the ceremonies were hosted by Bryant Gumbel.
