Neil Goldman is a recurring character on "Family Guy", named after "Family Guy" and Scrubs writer Neil Goldman. Neil is a stereotypical nerd who lusts after Meg Griffin, who does not return his affections. He is the son of Mort and Muriel Goldman, who own a pharmacy, and attends James Woods High. He is more confident than his father, so much so that he doesn't seem to realize that Meg doesn't like him. Neil and his family are Jewish.

Neil Goldman was introduced in the second season episode "Let's Go to the Hop", which established him as a fan of and as an admirer of Meg. In "The Story on Page One", Neil was editor-in-chief of the school newspaper. The episode also showed Neil has a smooth bass voice if he's not using his retainer. Neil and Meg, working as interns for Channel 5, kissed in the episode "The Kiss Seen Around the World", but only because Meg thought she was about to die. He also declares that Captain Kirk is inherently superior to Jean-Luc Picard.

In the fourth season episode "8 Simple Rules for Buying My Teenage Daughter", Neil started dating another classmate, and Meg immediately became jealous and agreed to be sold to the Goldman family as Neil's girlfriend, but quickly regretted it. Meg had Lois attempt to seduce Neil to make the contract invalid, but Neil accepted her release from the document and went back out with the other girl, leaving Meg jealous again (and Lois disturbed by her own actions). Also in this episode, he mentions that he has psoriasis.

Since this episode, Neil has not shown any interests in Meg and is hardly ever featured at all; however, in the episode "Brian Sings and Swings", when Meg inadvertently joins her school's lesbian club, Neil believes her to have become a lesbian and assumes that that was the reason she always rejected him.

His most recent appearance was in the episode "Peter's Daughter", where he tries to attend Meg's wedding but finds his name is not on the list, so he tricks Chris, the usher, into letting him go under "his" name.

Neil bears similarities to Milhouse Van Houten from The Simpsons, in being both an unwanted suitor and having parents who inexplicably resemble each other and himself.
