History

The origins of the club are unknown, but it appears to have been the Whittal Carpet Mills company team. Matthew Whittal, a British businessman, had established a carpet factory in South Worcester. Drawing largely on a British immigrant population, the factory dominated the town's economy for decades. [ [http://college.holycross.edu/projects/worcester/neighbors/southworcester.htm South Worcester: A British Enclave in the Heart of the Commonwealth] ] While Whittal F.C. may have been in existence during those early decades, it did not come to national attention until 1925. That year it went to the fourth round of the 1925 National Challenge Cup. They followed that with a second round exit in 1927 and a first round exit in 1928. In 1930, a team representing the English Worcestershire Football Association toured the U.S., tying Whittal 2-2.
