Aengus Ó Maoláin (born 6 July 1985) is an Irish composer, singer, and musician.

Performance

Aengus Ó Maoláin got his first exposure with celtic vocal group Anúna in 2003 and travelled the world performing with the group. He is a world-technique specialist and among other things is multiphonic, utilising his own pitched overtone technique based on the Syght of Tuva.

In early 2005 Ó Maoláin formed the experimental vocal group Bulraga with three singers of completely different disciplines to explore the interplay between their styles.

Ó Maoláin has also recorded on the Double Bass, Guitar and Tin Whistle.

Composition

Aengus (as he perfers to be known rather than by his surname) has become known in Ireland, the United Kingdom and the USA as primarily a composer of sacred choral music but his output is much more broad in instrumentation. "House Quintet", for four electric guitars and saxophone, and "clunge/elegance" for five drummers are particularly different, as are the symphonic works "Tartü" and "The Wall"
