11 of the 20 counties are part of the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan Area, 5 counties are part of the New York Metropolitan Area, and 2 are part of the San Francisco Bay Area. By Census region, 12 counties are located in the South, 5 in the Northeast, and 3 in the West.
