Severen tsentralen

Severen centralen is one of Bulgarian planing regions. The capital is city of Rousse. Includes 5 Bulgarian Provinces : Ruse Province, Veliko Tarnovo Province, Gabrovo Province, Targovishte Province and Razgrad Province.

Demographics

1.035 mln. Mostly Bulgarians, Turkish and Romas.Largest cities are Rousse (175000), Gabrovo (67000), Veliko Tarnovo (agl. 100000), Targovishte (42600), Razgrad (37000), Gorna Oryahovitsa (37000) and Svishtov (30000).Density : 69.7/km.2

Area

14 841 km.2. Veliko Tarnovo Province is one of largest Bulgarian provinces and Gabrovo province is a smallest. By the north is located the river Danube. Others rivers are Yantra, Rusenski Lom.

Economy

Region is one of poorest European regions. Most important centers are Rousse - Bulgarian largest river's port, Gabrovo, Veliko Tarnovo, Sevlievo - seat of Ideal Standart Bulgaria, Svishtov and others. The Rousse-Giurgiu Friendship Bridge, the only bridge over the Danube in Bulgaria as of 2006, is located in the region.
