Evangelical Anglican Church of America

Evangelical Anglican Church of America

The Evangelical Anglican Church of America is a traditional, conservative Christian Protestant church. As with all Anglican churches, the beliefs and practices of this Christian church maintains a liturgy compatible with it, but the Evangelical Anglican Church of America was constituted in 1993 in order to reject the 1979 Prayer Book of the Episcopal Church (U.S.A.), and uses the 1928 US version of the BCP as its liturgy. It is considered a 'continuing church', in that is is continuing with characteristics that the Canterbury-communion churches have chosen not to continue (see Anglican realignment).

Contemporary Anglicanism, as defined by the Anglican Church of America, is represented by those branches of Christ's Church that adhere to biblical standards of faith and doctrine based upon the Thirty-Nine Articles of Religion (1555); base their corporate worship upon the Book of Common Prayer (1662) or one of its integral descendants (such as the 1928 American Edition); and have maintained the Apostolic Order of the Church in the ministry of Bishops, Priests, and Deacons. As ordinances of Christ, the Sacraments of Holy Baptism and Holy Communion are essential to the order of the Church and the spiritual well-being of the Christian. Within the divine order for the Church, however, the Sacraments and the preaching of Holy Scripture are to be concurrent foci.
