- Sayf al-Din al-Amidi
Sayf al-Din al-Amidi (d.
1233 ) was an influentialjurist of theShafi`i school who worked to combinekalam (theology) with existing methods ofjurisprudence . He spent his childhood and received in education inDamascus andBaghdad before moving toEgypt at an early age. He grew to fame there and was accused of using heretical, rationalist, methods before eventually returning toDamascus where he would remain until death. His most famous work onIslamic jurisprudence is "Al-ihkam fi usul al-ahkam".References
